Dogster Inc., which founded and operates
the Dogster.com and Catster.com online
communities, announced on Friday that it had
received a $1 million angel investment.
Dogs, presumably aided by their human companions,
may register for free or premium accounts, post
photos, write in online diaries or use the forums
to discuss issues from health and obedience
to fashion and movies. Dogster and Catster are
supported by advertising.

Remember, at the end of the day that
all of the advertising campaigns and attractive
affiliate programs will only result in traffic
spikes which will be transient. Generating a
content rich website that is useful, educational,
or entertaining will attract and retain customers.
While it's hard to assemble a content-rich site
that motivates others to link to you, it is
certainly not impossible. Keep in mind that
search engine rankings are influenced by the
amount and quality of a website's content. Provide
content that will make webmasters want to link
to your website.

:: Google Looking To Surfers
For Help

Google is asking surfers with time on
their hands to help it categorize and label
the images indexed by its search engine, building
a database of knowledge about the contents of
the images.
The company launched a new online game on Friday,
Google Image Labeler, which it describes as
"a fun way to help us organize all the images
on the Web." In the game, two randomly selected
players are each shown the same image, plucked
at random from Google's search index, and given
90 seconds to suggest as many keywords or phrases
as they can to describe it. They score points
if any of their descriptions match.

September 11 is a day of reflection,
and for me it has become a day of giving. Each
year on Sept 11, we donate 100% of our sales
to a charity. While you may not want to donate
all of your sales, consider donating a percentage
of your profits to a favorite non-profit organization
or charity.
All of us have been touched in someway by tragedies
over the years, whether brought on by mother
nature, disease or other people, they are still
tragedies. Consider what you have and consider
how you can give back.
